Aaero

So according to steam this game falls under action music ok I can see that, I was having a hard time trying to place this game so I’ll just agree with steam there the professionals.

I haven’t played a music game since ddr and rock band so I admit my curiosity was super peaked when I got this from my humble bundle codes. This game is really an indy gem cause the few songs I played were more then enough to bring back memories of rock band and ddr.

Is there a story no there isnt then again most music games didnt have one either, in Aaero you control a little space ship flying through beautiful abandoned landscapes and every once in a while you have to fight off bugs in order to survive.

Now the concept of Aaero is simple you reach a point where a glowing white line appears and you follow that line to gain points and listen to the epic songs chosen to be in the game these are songs that probably belong in a good house cd maybe late night radio mixes where it’s awesome music sorry got distracted but you follow the glowing light and I admit I thought it was gonna be easy and it’s far from easy as some songs pick up speed right off the bat and others have intricate loops you have to follow.

This game accompanies it’s great choice of music with awesome back grounds to keep the experience from getting bland and with little alien battles along the way to keep you from getting bored it adds a nice touch and I cant forget the alien boss battle yes you heard that right there are alien bosses to fight my first one was on my 4th song I think it was I fought against a sand worm and the glowing light I had to follow was inside his body so it was a bit weird but pretty fun at the same time I played this game on my computer using my xbox 1 controller and I highly recommend this game if your an old school fan of ddr and rock band thank you all and have a great day.

Apex Legends

Apex legends is the new kid on the block in the battle royal world and I gotta say respawn studios has knocked the ball out the park with there take on the battle royal mode. In a surprise launch that took the world by surprise as people flocked to download the new free to play br.

Apex brings a new take to the br scene with its 60 player limit and trio squads making it a smoother experience but it doesnt stop there in a overwatch style move the game let’s you pick between 8 different legends each with there own combat styles letting you experiment till you find that go to character.

The game takes place in the universe of titanfall which is why we are able to slide and the melee combat is the same from titanfall as well as all the weapons except the smart pistol thankfully are from titanfall as well.

After spending the last few days playing the game I admit this is my favorite br out of all the ones I’ve played even tho i do terrible most of the times it’s fun and if you dont like playing solo you dont have to worry thanks to match making putting you into a trio squad which I feel is the best most and I do hope they dont change the aspect.

The game from what I’ve seen is borrowing fortnites set up when it comes to the store and everything else in general since over 90% of the store is cosmetics to be bought except for 2 of the legends, respawn also said there will be a season pass to add more into the game which I find to be a massive plus considering how awesome the game is.

Now yes 2 of the legends are locked to either be bought with real money or the ingame currency legend tokens and no I dont feel they make the game pay to win either I’ve seen them both in action and honestly there not any different from the legends you play with normally and you can earn legend tokens just from leveling up in game so if your willing to grind soon you will have all 8 legends.

Overall apex legends is a great br and a breath of light brought into the genre that’s mostly dominated by fortnite I wish respawn lots of success with this game and I cant wait to see what else will be added to the game down the road have a great day.

Earth Defense Force 4.1: the shadow of new despair

So this is my first earth defense force game I’ve ever played even though it’s been out for a while and I gotta say this game from what I have played so far is a blast. This game I will most likely do another blog post or to as I progress farther into the game.

For anyone that hasn’t heard of the game or doesnt know about it, in earth defense force you play as humans trying to fight and survive against a massive invasion of truck sized bugs… yes you read that right bugs and man if you hate bugs like I hate most of them this game is both fun and creepy at the same time. Now considering this is my first game in this series I am not 100% sure if each game has it’s own story or if there all one big story cause from what I’ve played so far if feels like it’s one big story.

As for the game it’s not really a set rpg to say cause it’s more mission based you pick the first mission get introduced to the bad guys and then clear them and rinse and repeat in the next one, the thing I like is every few missions they introduce you to a new enemy a bigger threat and man did I say the best part I found is when they come apart after you blast them with your weapons.

Now each mission is set on a nice sized map with a random city or forest/mountain scape and you either fight all the bugs at once or in waves and the difficulty isnt bad really since at the start of each mission you get to choose between easy and inferno mode I haven’t taken it passed normal mode cause I wanna enjoy the game and follow as much of the story as I can.

Now I got my version on PC but I know it’s also on console ps4 and xbox so if your interested check it out.

Now my favorite thing about the game has to be the fact that it has local co op or as I call it couch co op and that to me is awesome even though I love an awesome multiplayer game to meet new people having local co op is just as good incase you have any friends over you can give them a remote and have them help you kick the bugs back to where they came from… maybe mars lol I also love the local co op since it has giving me the chance of playing a game with my 4 year old son and it has giving me so many memories that I love.

So far i haven’t come across any issues with the game that were game breaking just 1 or 2 random bugs that didnt arrive at the battlefield like others.

The loot in the game is awesome as the bugs drop health crates as well as armor and weapon crates which as you pick up stock pile until you clear the mission then it tells you everything you got and how much armor you increased.

All in all this is a very awesome game and I love every bit that I have played so far if you want a simple shot them up type game and dont mind massive bug armies then check out Earth Defense Force you might enjoy it thank you all and have a great day

Banished

What I call one of the best city building strategy games I’ve ever played, that is banished. In banished you control a group of people exiled from there old lives looking to start a new and with your help hopefully they get the chance to.

You see banish makes every action count the number of people and resources you start out with is just the first step the second depends on how smart you are in making the next few choices since you play against the clock you see in banish not only do you play against the elements but it feels like in real life where age hunger and health work against you.

As you work to establish your settlement you must also establish food and jobs as things do get harder as you progress but then again that’s the point of a strategy game to not be easy.

You have a variety of jobs from farmers to fishers to teachers and so on the variety is great keeping the jobs filled is hard growing the populace is harder this is honestly the first game I’ve played that resembles real life so closely which is why I said every action counts.

Other then people depending the setting you choose you start out with live stock as well as a few houses and I must say keeping the farm animals alive is probably the easiest job in the whole game, the game also has seasons as the days go by the weather changes next thing you know your in winter trying to keep your people warm making sure to keep up on the wood as its needed for building as well resources are plenty around you just people are truly a pain in the butt to keep going.

I know it may sound like a bad game but it’s really not once you get going and have the basics figured out and you keep your population growing it truly becomes a fun game as you see how far you can expand over the map it’s a basic game with a bit of a learning curve and a good amount of strategy thank you and have a great day

Ironsight

I dont normally go hunting for free to play games but recently my cousin brought a free to play game to my attention that reminded me of my days playing call of dutys black ops 2 and this game is called ironsights.

I for one had no idea of its existence until he told me about it, so I decided to look for the game and give it a chance. The game comes from Aeria Games and is honestly I say a huge homage to call of duty and uses call of duty as a major inspiration the maps are a decent size as you move around them looking for the enemy the game also incorporates it’s own form of kill streaks and perks to help you fight and has a nice list of guns to buy from as you save up money.

Having played the game for a few days I already love it and admit it’s the first game I feel comfortable using a mouse and keyboard with the pace of the game is just right as well as the normal frustrations that come with this type of game.

Now before I get to the frustrating things I will say this the game seems to be really well made spec wise considering my cousin runs the game on a 2 in 1 laptop.

Now the frustrating things I’ve seen in the game that I feel could use some works the first is the headshot mechanics there is no reason I need to put 5 or 6 rounds into a dudes head for him to die I hope they tune this and try and make it more realistic I also feel the spawns need some rework there have been times where I’ll spawn right next to an enemy or in the same exact spot as the enemy just killed me in especially if there using a kill streak and they just use it in the same spot wracking up the kills it really sucks. I dont have many other complaints that I can think of.

As your scroll through the menu you can tell that micro transactions are a thing in this game as many of the chest in the item shop need real money to buy but thankfully you can grind for the in game currency and buy things that way and so far I haven’t noticed any pay to win tactics since everything is mostly on the cosmetics side of things.

All in all IronSights is a great game and really brings back that cod feeling and the fact that the game is free to play makes it even better so please check it out when you get the chance you might enjoy it thank you all and have a great day.

Another brick in the mall

Hey everyone hows it going? Today I’ll be bringing you my opinion of a little management sim/ builder called another brick in the mall.

This game throws you into the owner ship of a massive piece of land but do to restrictions you cant turn it into a residential land or industrial so this is where the tutorial takes you through the basics of turning this land into your own shoppers paradise no pun intended. The tutorial although good does leave out a few things you learn on your own so I’ll go over what you learn thanks to the tutorial.

Like any good builder game it tells you where in the menu you scroll to in order to find the things you need you start with building a very basic store where you divide it with a small wall so your store can have a storage for the supplies it will need to operate.

The game has gone through a few updates where new things were added you can tell from the tutorial as it has you build a small office and hire office workers so you can research you things to help expand your growing mall, yes I call it a mall cause honestly that’s basically what your doing lol. Now the tutorial shows you how to assign the storage unit to the store and how to place parking spots for a delivery unit as well as a recycling spot another feature they added was a time bar which tells you what events are approaching and how long before they arrive it also details what people will be looking for the most so you have time to add those to your stores which I think is an awesome addition so you can try and maximize profits.

Your not restricted to just the small store you have a massive plot of land so you can do whatever you want as long as you have the money to make it happen, the research tree is very extensive unlocking electronics and fast food as well as liquor and other stuff among the vast list and since this game is part management so you have to know and study the busy times since the game will make it a constant reminder to tell you how bad your doing and I say bad cause in all my save files I have never made the game happy I always always miss an opportunity somewhere and it’s tough very tough but a fun little sim and one I enjoy playing and watching my store succeed or fail since every choice i made was on me.

The game also task you with hiring and you do hire a lot trust me the best thing is figuring out how many workers you need and at what time you also can hire people based on there speed socialism and how tolerable they are which I find its key to having a successful store since you wanna make sure your workers are fast so the lines dont get to crazy as people will leave after enough time in line I’ve had that happen to me and trying to make changes is another big problem since you wont know how good or bad they are till the day goes by.

All in all another brick in the mall is a fun game letting you work your magic and building the mall of your dreams as you aim for profits and happy customers so they can come back for more enjoy everyone and have a great day.

Bungie Activision split

Yes you read that right and it’s pretty much the talk of the town bungie announced on twitter that they were splitting from Activision and in the divorce there taking along destiny which in my opinion yes that is awesome now let’s see what happens in the future.

If you played both destiny 1 n 2 then you will know the game has had a hard life and many pointed fingers at Activision myself included simply because all they wanted was the money back for there investment, I remember many rumors that went around after the release of taken king that it was part of vanilla destiny and Activision made bungie cut it to be made into DLC. Now I know how much drama went on with destiny the fact that dlc took forever to arrive and the fact that the game had no real story except for the lore that you discovered throughout the game. Destiny 2 even though it had a story and decent lore suffered the same as the first game as in not having enough end game content and to be honest even now after forsaken and the annual pass things are slowly moving in the right direction.

Now what does this mean for destiny in general? Easy it means bungie doesnt have big brother pressuring them to release this now and to do this as well dont get me wrong I’m fine with paying for a season pass as long as the content in it is worth it and even tho many people hated curse of osiris me and many people I’ve spoken to agreed that if bungie had done more with the infinite forest it could have been a huge success and even now I feel bungie should go back and let us travel through time and visit historic moments in history. This also means that any issues that come out with future installments of the game will be strictly on bungie if they hit or miss and personally I hope they learned from all there mistakes and I hope that what they start to offer will be awesome.

I also hope that the PC community doesnt get affected to much considering d2 is on battle.net I hope bungie can find a way to keep us going o PC I admit I am nervous about that.

I want bungie to succeed even though I have a love n hate relationship with destiny I still want the future of this franchise to blossom and I cant wait to see what bungie starts bringing to the table thanks everyone have a great day.

Super Mega Baseball Extra Innings

Hello everyone hows it going? Today I wanna talk to you about an indy I’ve been playing called Super mega baseball extra innings. Released on August 21, 2015, by publisher and developer Metalhead Software Inc. this game is what I call the perfect time killer to play with friends and yes I did say, friends, as the game offers a variety of co-op modes which considering it’s a pc game caught me completely off guard.

I’ve been playing this game the last few nights to get away from my grind sessions in destiny and i gotta say the game is extremely fun to play even against the computer it offers both exhibition games which are short 5 innings games as well as a season mode which can be set to as many games as you want, the only issue I came across with season mode so far is you can’t seem to save so that you can continue later on unless maybe its user error which might be highly likely.

what makes super mega different from other baseball games is the more cartoony feel all the characters come standard with big heads and small bodies very close to the good old goldeneye days on N64 and i for one love the big heads they add humor to a game and along with the funny team names derived from everything and anything you can tell the devs wanted this to be strictly fun and not extremely serious like actual baseball games and I for one feel they executed it perfectly.

the game also offers an ego meter to every character which is affected by every action so if your a pitcher and give away 12 hits in a row you start doing worse or vice versa if you send the next 3 batters back with straight strikeouts you do better and the batters do get nervous everytime they come up to bat and you can tell cause they start sweating bricks no not literal bricks but you see the sweat falling off them as they’re cracking under the pressure.

the batting I say will be a tiny bit more difficult depending on the settings of the game for the fact that the computer is always spot on when going for the ball and I admit they always seem faster then you but then again I feel that may be normal. but being at bat if fun especially when you get those awesome home runs and give a huge ego blow to the pitcher.

if you love indy games and are a fan of sports games check out super mega baseball its a cheap game on steam and is fun to play its not hugely over the top but its a game done just right and I gotta say the time I’ve spent playing it has been a blast and being able to have fun while I’m winding down from the grind of other games is worth it thank you all and have a great day.

Game Dev Tycoon

Hello everyone and a late Merry Christmas to all. Hope the holidays were wonderful to all. Today we will be talking about another tycoon game called Game Dev Tycoon released August 29 2013 by developer and publisher GreenHeart Games. In this game which the title says it all you get to start your own development company so you can climb the ranks and be the top developer.

The game is simple it starts you out 35 years in the past when gaming was still young and it was mostly PC and I’m assuming the games version of atari. Of course for copy right reasons every console name is changed but by their pictures its obvious what they are. You progress slow and steady slowly unlocking new consoles and working through the game until you reach the end of the 35 year journey.

This game has a lot to offer I’ve played this multiple times having logged 30 hours it’s one of my most played tycoon games.

You start out alone in your garage prompted to pick a name for your company and yourself as well as your gender and the clothes you will wear for the duration of the game. After that the game enters the tutorial faze telling you what to do and how to start off and it’s a great tutorial it carrys you through your first game and the actions you perform from naming the game to the time invested in each aspect to the release of the game which shows you how much experience you gain at the end of every game developed and then the big release and off to the races, and just like in real life the game has 4 critics that judge your game on a 1 to 10 scale at the end the 4 scores are added up for your final score which yes it does impact your games sales the better the score the more you sell and the more fans you gain which we all know is the life essence of the gaming industry.

This game has a big variety of topics thankfully trying to reflect off real life as much as possible. You start out with 4 topics and unlock the rest using research points that you gain during development cycles each topic cost 10 research points if your lucky you have 1 good topic to use until you gain more. From all the times I’ve played the game offers 5 genres they are action, adventure, rpg, simulation and strategy and everything you do impacts your games in a big way so even though you will need to do a lot of experimenting to find good combos. Don’t be scared to go wild cause the game does help you out offering a little section called game report where it gives back advice on the game released telling you not only if the combo you picked out was good but if the PC or console you released it on was a good match and trust me there are games that work well on one and not the other.

There’s a lot to research in the game that helps you advance your products like creating your own game engine or better graphics and sound this tycoon game is really well made and in my own personal opinion I feel it is very close to real life minus coding and stuff lol.

Your able to progress past the garage and being a single worker once you start bringing in the big money you will also get to go to the big E3.

The game is a great time killer in short burst I’ve tried playing it for long sessions and got bored after a while but if you need a good time killer and love tycoon games check this one out.

Aftercharge Beta

So I was recently sent a key to participate in the beta for aftercharge from checking it out on steam the game puts you into 3 v 3 matches of search and destroy with being ramdomally thrown to the side of enforcer or workonics, those are what each side is called.

Now I didn’t get to spend a ton of time on the beta I admit do to playing other games but the time I did spend on it was to say pretty fun, to say the least. The game only offered 1 game mode search and destroy where you’re tasked with defending the generators or destroying them and for the beta, they only had a quick play option even though it seems they’re working on competitive to bring it to the table I assume during early access on steam.

Each side has 5 characters to choose from thankfully when 1 is picked it cant be picked again so there’s not doubles in matches and they each bring there own abilities to the table to help you protect and destroy the one team is called the workonics there tasked with destroying the generators to win the match, the other side enforcers protect the generators and hunt for the enemy team at the same time which isn’t an easy feat you see workonics run around invisible the whole match and only become visible if they attack or take damage this gives them the stealth advantage for a few seconds they also have the ability to share there own power with teammates so that you don’t go into the match without being able to trigger your special ability. Enforcers I feel have it a bit on the harder side their guns aren’t really accurate with a random spray effect and attached to there guns is a little detector that flashes when the enemies pass you which you then have to move around looking for them or wait till you hear the banging of them destroying the generators I will say this there win mechanic isn’t as bad though in order to win as an enforcer you have to knock out all 3 players which I guess makes up for the crappy detection system the workonics tho have to destroy every generator on the map in order to claim victory and from the matches I played there were players that refused to do anything so it’s a bit hard.

As I said before some of the matches I played were really fun teammates working together to win, although I did have 1 match where the guy did absolutely nothing and cost us the win cause he refused to save us and also refused to try and break the generators I didn’t see any type of kick feature when I played so I hope the devs add this for there early release I don’t think it’s fair for some to do all the work and others get a free ride.
