Pokemon Sword final thoughts

So finally after weeks of taking it slow so I could get the maximum enjoyment out of the game I have finished Pokemon sword today on April 26 and here before you are my thoughts on the game let’s dive in.

The story

So unlike the games before it Nintendo really went full tilt with this game and giving it what I call truly an amazing story from start to finish with such an amazing lore behind it leaving you wanting more information on the hablar regions history and the events of its shrouded past.

Like before you start off with your custom character as you set out to explore the world and meet your best friend who also happens to be your rival during the game Hop, I gotta say I love what Nintendo did with hop the personality he was giving during all parts of the game and the struggles of being a trainer you see a lot of it in him but I feel Nintendo made him a bit to weak to really give you that rival feel in all this.

So the galar region is beautiful some new Pokemon to catch many old ones as well as a few with special regional forms that honestly are pretty bad ass the total in the Pokedex is 400 before the dlc which I’m sure that number will only grow once the add ons are released. Like hoenn region which was famous for mega evolutions the galar region is famous for a mysterious Pokemon phenomenon called dynamax where the Pokemon grows massive in size and power all through the special effects of a wishing star, now I won’t get to much into that because I don’t wanna spoil the game for anyone who hasn’t played it but man is it fun.

The Gym Challenge

Unlike previous games where you got your Pokemon from the professor and set out to catch em all as well as challenge the gyms and the elite for this game did it differently and I loved it because it game the game much needed life.

So I’m sword and shield hop’s older brother Leon who is the galar region champion is the on who gives you your starter Pokemon I won’t say anything else cause I want people to see the little mystery the devs through into the game at this scene but it’s a good one. So after he lets you pick your starter hop talks about taking the gym challenge except in this game you can’t just go to a gym and fight no you see in this game they made the gym battles an actual competition and to enter you have to be endorsed by someone important and thankfully someone super important finally gives you your letter of endorsment making you 1 of 2 trainers to watch out for can you guess the other lol.

As well as such an awesome gym set up the badge it pretty awesome as it takes the form of a circular coin with a beautiful design both on the front and back.

The world

Now for me what really made me take it slow and enjoy every second of this game was the world and the NPC’s around you, you see here is where Nintendo went all out on the Pokemon side of things they took the unique aspect from Pokemon let’s go Eevee and Pikachu where you could see the Pokemon walking through the grass and paths and that was really an amazing aspect and they took that made it a million times better in sword and shield there was times I really felt like I was a Pokemon trainer journeying the region exploring every aspect of it.

But that’s not all they also took the raid system from Pokemon go made it more manageable for a limited crowd and gave us dynamax raids which I loved even more getting a chance to build your party with specific Pokemon or finding specific types it was awesome.

Final thoughts

All in all I don’t know what the hell people complained about Nintendo gave us what we wanted Pokemon on a console which is what everyone always wanted a console Pokemon that wasn’t a ds version. I personally can’t wait to see what else Nintendo has in store for us and I truly loved every minute of Pokemon sword and I highly recommend everyone who is a fan of the series and has a Nintendo switch please buy the game it’s worth it.

Thank you all be safe take care and game on!

Pokemon Sword

Yes I know I’m late to the party on this one but it took me a while to be able to afford another nintendo switch but better late then never.

I just wanna say finally we can play pokemon on the tv, unless you count the old school super nintendo adapter that existed when pokemon red and blue were a thing.

So I’ve been taken it slow in the game just enjoying the detail they put into the game and man I love it so much it’s an amazing game seeing the pokemon walking by you as you journey really makes you feel like an actual pokemon trainer and not someone who is playing a game, and the story man so much mystery behind it I cant wait to find out more about the legends of galar. As for my challenger journey I have 6 of the 8 badges and I gotta say I love that the gym leaders actually give you a bit of a challenge unlike previous games.

And onto the fun thing in sword and shield gigantamax which in turn is just making your pokemon the size of godzilla huge pokemon battles with powerful attacks these battles are amazing but all that aside my favorite thing in the whole game is something they borrowed from pokemon go, the raids, yes 4 man raids against gigantamax pokemon it’s so epic sadly you only get 1 chance to catch the pokemon and that sucks as I’ve missed out on 2 bulbasaur.

So far I am loving every bit of the game and I cant wait to finish it and see what the end game brings along with completing the pokedex made up of 400 pokemon not a bad number in my opinion. I will keep you posted as my journey continues theres so much more to discuss have a great day stay safe and game on

Pokemon go Buddy update

So pokemon go has released a new update to the buddy system and I for one think its awesome.

So a while back niantic added a buddy system to the game it was simple you picked a pokemon to walk and after you completed a certain distance with it you got a candy for said pokemon this was a great addition as it made it not necessarily easy to get candy for certain pokemon but it helped.

Now niantic added an update to this feature which lets people play and now after giving the pokemon 3 berries they now show up on the actual map next to your avatar and circle around you as you walk and I love it cause me being a massive pokemon fan this adds to the feeling of being a trainer and exploring with your partner man if only pokemon were real.

Now I noticed the buddy page shows you everything you do using a heart system and like the friendship system it has 4 hearts to fill but I haven’t found how to progress to the second heart but I did notice that the 4 activity hearts I earned reset today so idk if this is a bug or if it’s normal but I will say this new buddy update is fun and I’m glad that niantic is adding some small stuff to make the game more fun thank you all for stopping by take care and game on

Warframe on the Switch

Hey everyone. Now before I start this review I want to clarify one thing that clearly the people who make YouTube videos can’t tell the difference between a pay to win game and a free to play game. Warframe is completely free to play there is no pay to win period, yes the game has a store where you spend real money but the items you buy vary between new warframes, ingredients to build blue prints, different color pallets for your character, or alternate helmets so before you let anyone sink in your head that the game is pay to win try it out and see for yourself that it’s not.

Now on November 20th 2018 digital extremes warframe released for the nintendo switch which added another free to play title to nintendos library and one with an amazing history. Now for anyone who has never heard of warframe you play as a space ninja called the Tenno to restore peace to the universe and boy is it a big universe.

Along your journey you face different enemies. The biggest threat coming from a race called the grineer which are basically humans who use a very thick armor that makes them look almost robotic and there are a few grineer crews who are actual robots who can take a punch and dish it out as well.

The second enemy you encounter are the corpus they look like suited up welders or machinists and they have small robot walkers and a shield drone that is the biggest pain out of there arsenal considering most of them are melee fighters.

The third enemy race is called the infected and I’m sure by the name you can tell what they are mindless infected creatures that attack and like to swarm you, best recommendation is melee attacks and your special ability.

Warframe for being a free to play game has a lot of places to visit doing different missions on each planet, the map is of the solar system plus a few extras one being the void another is a planet called phobos and sedna and recently they added to big areas to the game that are open world and let you do lots of exploring and other activities. One being fishing so go prove your a master fisherman and catch the big one.

Now warframe has been around for a few years releasing on PC first and now in 2018 the game has been ported to switch and it’s a great port I play all my games in handheld and you truly can’t see any frame issues. They hold up really well compared to other consoles. There’s also docked mode for the switch which let’s you play the game in it’s full 1080p glory but I’m sure many people use handheld more and I for one don’t complain. The small list of issues I have come across I feel is more due to the network side of the switch then the game itself.

Since the switch doesn’t have an actual ethernet connection it relies on wifi connection having the ability to connect to both the 2.4 ghz channel and if your router is able to the 5 ghz channel. You’re switch has a healthy choice of wifi but with a game like warframe that is heavily dependent on a connection it will boggle in certain areas. I’ve noticed mainly in loading screens I’ve had my game slow and stutter and on the boss fight against the jackal I’ve had the game take a while to load up the boss animation so the fight can start. I’m not sure if this is an issue on nintendos side or digital extremes side but I do hope there’s a way to help this out with updates or maybe maintenance. I run my switch on the 5 ghz connection so it offers the least interference but anything could be the issue. Let me know if you have had any issues with slow loading. One small issue I also have I think has to do with the joy sticks themselves I feel when I play in handheld and I’m aiming down sights or doing anything with my range weaponry the movement is super stiff and I do have a hard time getting pin point targeting as compared to mashing the A button for melee. I’m not sure if it’s a design problem I’m sure nintendo didn’t expect to have shooters on the switch so maybe the stiffness is meant to favor RPG games but then again they have splatoon which I have yet to try out let me know your thoughts if you have had similar issues.

The port is brilliant giving nintendo players lots to do as they save the universe on the go which is the advantage the switch offers players being able to take the console anywhere they want to play to show off the games to both friends and family and I for one recommend trying out this port if your looking for something new to play. That’s all for this review I hope you enjoyed. Jave a great day and take care.

Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu and Eevee

What can I say finally after many years we get the pokemon game on console that many have wanted, yes it’s not a new generation like many hoped for it’s a remake of pokemon yellow. Which I personally don’t see an issue as I’m sure nintendo needed a starting foundation to make sure there weren’t any major bugs or coding problems for their next pokemon game and honestly what better version to be remade then yellow. Pokemon Yellow had some of the best features from the first few games The fact that all 150 pokemon were on the same cartridge, you had pikachu following you around, and similar to the tv show you found bulbasaur squirtal and charmander and made them yours without the need to trade for them.

So then where is the issue? Why are people being so negative about the games? Well in simple terms a few of the changes made didn’t sit well with hardcore fans which I can understand. I’m not happy about the catching method but that’s not stopping me from enjoying the game, another is you can’t fight wild pokemon anymore which that in itself is a bit of an issue because then to train your pokemon you are forced to fight everyone and catch as many pokemon as possible over and over again but even then that’s not enough as you struggle to train the party that you like and may be forced to use random pokemon that you catch just to make it through or you can toughen it out and keep fighting and working on your current party.

I can see that being a big negative which after a certain area in the game it is but I mean come on it’s pokemon. I have been wanting this exact product for years and I for one am super hyped that nintendo has done this and they have even said that the next chapter in pokemon arrives in 2019 so people come on, take the game for what it is an amazing rework and enjoy it till the next gen releases.

Now these two games even tho they are remakes of yellow they feel more like a mixture of all 3 games red, blue and yellow. You see the only feature they implemented was the version exclusive pokemon which isn’t an issue if your an avid pokemon go player which I’ll explain later on. Now my love for this game is seeing everything that made the game fun going through Kanto after so many years makes me feel like the first time I started playing pokemon red on my gameboy pocket… yes I’m old I know lol, but anyways I’ve seen so many memories facing off against Brock and his rock types to getting the dome fossile to visiting the S.S Ann to get the cut h.m which sadly for this game H.M’s don’t exist more on that later. My point is this game has brought back so many memories that I for one even though I have found my gripes with it am truly thankful for nintendo giving us this long awaited gem.

Like any remake there are changes to the game and this is no exception. Firstly the biggest would be the lack of an actual safari zone which is now a small safari park with a few pokemon. The zone has been replaced with the pokemon go park which is where you send any kanto region pokemon you transfer over from pokemon go. I have tested this feature out. I sent my extra dratini over because I didn’t want to wait till end game to try and get a Dragonite. The one part about this that I found annoying is that you have to catch your own pokemon again. Why do I have to go through that much trouble for my own pokemon? I should be able to walk in there, claim my pokemon, and move on. I don’t know why nintendo did it that way but they did.

The next noticeable change like I mentioned earlier is that the H.M’s are gone and are now renamed as secret techniques that your starting partner learns. This is a plus as you don’t waste a move slot on the h.m but I do hope in the next generation game nintendo brings this back. I miss the struggle of which pokemon to make the h.m only mon, and it’s a bit comical and weird seeing my partner eevee learn to fly a balloon powered bike so that I can fly to places and I just learned surf so now I can see eevee riding a surfboard to get me places which honestly always makes me smile as I see eevee making it obvious that she will be learning the moves and not me like there intended to. Now as I haven’t played this game in years I forgot where to get flash and ended up traversing rock tunnel in the dark so kudos to me.

Now the newest feature to these games is the ability to connect your nintendo switch with your mobile device and connecting your pokemon go and let’s go games so that you can 1 way transfer pokemon into let’s go, yes you read that right 1 way transfer so make sure 1 million percent sure before you transfer any pokemon over that you either A. Have a much better version of the pokemon or B. Have more than one of the same pokemon before you transfer them as you will not be able to get them back period. I personally like this as you’re helping yourself complete your pokedex which any pokemon trainer knows that is not an easy thing to do.

There are a few ways you can play the game if you paid the extra cash for the version that brings the pokeball. You can play in docked mode and the pokeball becomes your controller, I wasn’t able to buy that version. I have the basic copy which I can still play in docked mode with the switch controller to move and catch pokemon but I want the old fashion feeling I play in handheld mode and catch pokemon by pressing A which I don’t mind. I can’t be up in my bedroom which is where my switch is connected since I have a son to watch. I like how nintendo didn’t force 1 specific form of playing the game on people and understand that many want to play the game where ever they can without any restrictions.

Now that nintendo has moved pokemon from the DS console family and added it to the switch family I do hope future installments of the game add more to the small side of things like the animations with certain attacks. It would be cool to actually see the fire attacks leave the attackers mouth I know you are thinking why does that matter? Well it doesn’t but it would be nice to see more realism added to the attacks as well as maybe a rework to the fighting system where instead of forcing the first pokemon in your party to be sent out maybe give trainers the chance to pick what mon is sent out so we can feel like we are actually battling instead of waiting till it’s your turn to switch pokemon and waste that precious first move. I also wanna see nintendo go all out with there next few pokemon games and maybe even one day be graced with a game that let’s us travel to every region to battle and catch pokemon but I know all this is a long shot but hey a guy can dream though.

I for one love this game, I love the memories that this game has brought back watching jessie James and meowth run away after every defeat going from city to city and making fools of team rocket or battling my rival or gym leaders. This game is like any other pokemon game out there so do yourself a favor if you are a pokemon fan and are on the fence about getting this game well don’t be. Take the plunge and buy it and enjoy it just like the old days when you played through yellow on the special edition gameboy that was released with it. I hope my words help you to buy the game and to have fun. Have a great day and take care.

Skyrim and the Switch

Hey everyone hows it going? Today I wanna talk about my adventures in skyrim on nintendos new console the switch. I’ll be honest when the switch was first announced like many I was a bit sceptical, like how can something that small run triple A games like skyrim and other games. Well it took me some time but I was finally able to buy a switch mainly cause of pokemon yes huge poke nerd here but anyways, the first game i got for it was L.A Noire the game looked beautiful controls a bit rough, fast forward about a month an a half and I bought skyrim for it I own skyrim on PC but barely play it since I’m always playing multiplayer games, now on the switch I play in handheld mode which drops the resolution to 720p which to me isn’t an issue I’ve been playing games since the original nintendo. I gotta say man the console was playing skyrim like a dream I wasn’t having any issues at all no frame drops no stutters even at the start when Alduin decides to come in and burn everything to ashes the switch played like a champ, the graphics for a tiny screen like the switch were beautiful walking around and enjoying the world around you does not disappoint I love playing in handheld as it doesn’t restrict me to being in one room and the fact I can take it with me anywhere I go is even better. Nintendo truly has done it with the switch, but there is one small issue I found and I’m sure it has to do with the battery size in the switch, the brightness isn’t very bright I play skyrim on max brightness since I have terrible eyes as it is and in a lot of areas I struggle to see anything to make out pathways. I love the switch it has a lot to live for and it really takes handheld gaming to the next level I only hope that when nintendo does there remodeled version of the console they find a way to add a bigger battery and maybe a better screen and brightness setting as well as more internal memory since your stuck buying a bigger SD card just to be able to save more games on it, but then again the console is kicking butt so I can forgive it for its battery. The console uses a type c charger to charge on its docking station, I really haven’t been able to play the switch docked so when I get the chance I will update you guys on it but I gotta say if your on the fence about the switch just jump over and buy it the console is amazing gives you the freedom of the old DS days but with better games not just Mario or pokemon the fact that more companies are bringing games to this new console is awesome I see a bright future for the switch and I hope nintendo doesn’t mess anything up cause their train is riding smooth on the tracks. Have a good day everyone.
