The biggest addition to Bellwright is the new Halmare Isles map, which is roughly 25% the size of the original game. At over 10 square kilometers, this region includes all new story-based quests with multiple progression lines, expanded armor and equipment, new animals and buildings, and introduces a Loyalty & Faction system.
Other major additions to the core game include full controller support, a Trade and Caravans feature that provides a new layer of strategy as players build and manage a sophisticated logistics network between their outposts, and an improved Walls fortification system that allows players to construct walls for their camps. This includes new gameplay mechanics with specific AI behavior for attackers and defenders, which adds a fresh challenge and more strategic depth to base defense.
There’s a bounty of new customization features as well, like a much improved Character Creator, offering further options and higher fidelity player character models. Fashion-conscious players will also enjoy the New Weapon Types & Cloaks offering more ways to personalize player characters and show off their unique builds and looks. Another quality of life improvement is the addition of Blocking Markers on Building Placement, with a new system that now shows foliage blocking construction areas, along with the ability to task workers with removing the foliage before it is built.
“Since entering into Early Access last year, Bellwright has received over a million wishlists largely due to the constant updates and direct communication our team has had with players,”said Creative Director and Project Lead Florian Hoffreither “‘Maiden Voyage’ is really taking the feedback that we’ve received over the last year and improving the game in all aspects. The icing on the cake is we get to introduce an entirely new setting and continent to explore. We’re looking forward to hearing what you think of this Maiden Voyage update as we continue to stride towards our 1.0 launch!”

First off I wanna thank wolcen studios for inviting me to this alpha test i had a blast checking out gods death and reapers let’s get into it.
Not many game cinematics capture me right from the start anymore but when I saw the intro video to GDR I had to find out more the scene starts with your character is a 1 vs 5 battle everything is going good until you get stabbed through the heart from behind you drop to the floor dead then out of no where a blinding light surrounds you and your soul starts to leave your body that is until these dark tendrils appear out from underneath you and drag you down into the abyss thus ending the cinematic and im sorry my explanation does not do it justice its something you need to watch.
You wake up in an old Gothic looking world where a voice is telling you how to proceed pushing you to survive and trust me survive you must after some introduction combat and narrative you meet death himself the master of the afterlife appreciative somewhat of your survival he tells you this is your new home an old decrepit castle waiting to be rebuilt from your journeys you see this is where the game starts to smack you around like every other extraction game except in this one you dont get guns or grenades no they went with a much more brutal approach swords javelins and shields and staffs and warhammers this game wants close combat it wants the brutality thats expected when a sword pierces you and sends blood splattering everywhere this is a top down extraction combat game and I for one have loved everything ive seen so far in this alpha test and for an alpha the game is at a great point.
The game throws you into the pit which is the training area so you can find basic stuff and get a feel for the game which is a huge plus no need to rush without getting a feel for stuff, your home base has about 11 different post that must be rebuilt in order for you to use them the main one being the portal which sends you off into the world to fight against monsters and players for loot and survival and trust me survival is key here. Theres also a shop where you can buy basic gear to get you started no free kits here you either get stronger and take it or get lucky and escape with it, which you will find some cool gear in the world ive found a few warhammers and javelins as well as some sweet armor to boost my stats. The black Smith helps to upgrade your weaponry which you will wanna do if you want stronger attacks which let’s be real its a pvpve focused game you wanna make sure your ahead of the fight. Another post is a challenge post where different challenges become available in order for you to earn extra coin let’s face it lots of people will need coin for new gear myself being one of them. Theres plenty more to discover but your gonna have to play the game for yourself in order to find out what they are.
Leader boards the game has a global board for you to see how ypu stack up against the rest and trust me when you go through and see some of these players its a bit nerve wracking and makes you wonder if your gonna come across one of them on your journey which im sure is a huge possibility.
The game is set in a Nordic theme you get 3 maps starting in helhiem and ending in asgard from what the challenges state it seems each map will have different enemies.
The enemies you fight are pretty intense you have swordsman to archers to magic users thats the basic enemies then you have bigger elite enemies that hurt when they hit you and offer the biggest variety in the game then there’s mini bosses that have health bars and well will kick your ass if your not watching or being careful.
The extraction is where the game gets even more tense once you find an obelisk you activate it and a message pops up telling you that you have to kill X amount of enemies and they swarm you fast even elite enemies pop up keeping you on your toes moving is a must or you will lose fast if you manage to survive well you get to extract and return to home-base with your spoils of war.
God’s death & reapers has the making of a fun extraction game and for an alpha the only issue i had was the wait times to find a match felt a bit long but im sure this will be fixed later on I cant wait to see what this game and the devs have in-store for us down the road i am grateful to have been given an opportunity to take part in this alpha. Thank you all for stopping by take care and game on.
First off big thank you to sand sailor studios and thunderful publishing for the code to aska its greatly appreciated and gave me the opportunity to check out there game let’s talk about it.
First off survival games are not my forte the last survival games I played were rust and Conan exile years ago and haven’t touched the genre since, so color me surprised when I received this code to check out aska and there new sailing update.
The game starts you off washing up on shore of your random generated island you wake up and see the remains of your ship and trust me remains they are in the ocean just feet away you this giant stone golem which im a million percent sure is responsible for you being stranded just looks at you does a loud roar and disappears into the distance like some figure trying to walk away from its crime no sir you get back here and fix my ship.
So my first run starts with me on the beach I walk around a bit looking at my surroundings I grab some fancy blue rocks off the carcass of my ships and wandered around so you will come across some blue wisp that will randomly appear telling you what to do next which im guessing is this games idea of a tutorial which trust me its not compared to other survival games the tutorial leaves much to be desired, after managing to figure out the basics I built myself some tools and started getting to work on my base camp by building a fire which for some reason the game decided to make hard by placing a phantom fire down then you bring the items needed to it give it to the phantom fire then actually build it but it doesn’t get marked done until you add fire wood go figure. So during my exploration I came across these floating monsters I took them out and they dropped some much needed materials for me to progress. What I do like about the game though is if you press the letter Z a pulse is emitted from you that pushes outward and paints everything that is usable and able to be harvested in a golden glow that last a couple seconds the good thing is you can use this pulse as often as you want which works wonders for finding smaller items on the floor when your in grassy areas. Now back to the game with no tutorials I spent a bit of time walking around now the game has a section in the menus that acts as there tutorial section but let’s be real a tutorial should guild the player through the basics of gathering and building until you have a decent home base set up.
So I wandered around found wood and sticks from small trees I was able to chop down and had a hard time finding stone since nothing small had generated near by just my luck so I layed out my first building needed which is the hut for sleeping my make shift home then I started work on the eye of oden which is the device that summons new villagers in exchange for 5 blood stones fair trade I suppose well my first run was a disaster with not knowing what to do I ended up dying of thirst this one made me mad as I had an ocean of water and yet I couldn’t drink out of why I dont know. So I took a break from the game and went on YouTube looking for begginer videos and tips on how to play and thank lord youtube exist cause it helped me out greatly so that my next runs wouldnt be a disaster as for water turns out until you build a well or water catcher you must find small stones on the floor that have water deposits for you to drink why they would do this makes no sense but thats my 2 cents.
So in my next run I managed to get a small village going I also had a better starting location being surrounded by trees and stone and a decent amount of food so I got my tents up the fire pit going which I then upgraded with a shield to protect it from the rain as well as a bar b q stand to cook I also managed to build a gatherers pit a wood and stone pit as well I managed to summon some villagers to help me out and so far controlling them isnt hard but there interaction menu is very deep and is something you take your time to learn. When summoning villagers your able to see what there first 2 perks are which you definitely want some that will benefit your early game. I went for some that had gathering stats so I could move them around to different areas.
Aska has a lot to learn and a good amount of content to work with I still haven’t gotten to the new sailing content im sure that will take me a few dozen hours of play time. Don’t let my experience deter you this game is really worth playing and giving it a shot the graphics are beautiful for a survival game no bleak deserts and no guns either you get a bow and arrow as well as some clubs for early game you also have a large amount of buildings to build through and expand your village as well as walls and gates to keep your village enclosed and safe which trust me villagers will tell you about it and if you dont manage to fix stuff guess what they leave.
Aska is a viking based survival game that gives its own take on the genre of survival and village management I highly recommend it to players that know the genre well and to new players please watch some YouTube videos first going in blind sucked and I wasted so much time only to end up dieing of thirst of all things the game does have hostiles in the form of wolves and skeletons you also get invaded so there’s a good amount of survival to be done but thats all for now thank you for your time take care and game on.
