Hey everyone hows it going? Today i wanna talk to you about a pixel art mmorpg that ive been playing lately so lets talk about it.
So this game was brought to my attention by the creator himself Jeromy Stroh he messaged me a few months back but it ended up being a game i skipped at first since I wasnt working i didnt have a way to buy it then recently he messaged me again so I decided to talk with him the game has different versions and on andriod its free with some micro transactions so its how I started the game out.
Now im not much of a mobile gamer the only game on my phone is pokemon go but I went into this game with no expectations so I was pleasantly surprised when I started to enjoy the game controls on mobile aren’t great but aren’t a disaster either there easy to learn with some work.
The first i guess you can say quirk of the game that annoyed me off the bat was the dialog the game mixes present world dialog with a medieval fantasy setting at least thats how it comes across to me but after sometime even some of the conversations were making me smile and I wanted to play the game more in comes my best friend Savior who buys me the game on steam during the last sale they had which at 5 bucks I didnt mind him buying it for me so on pc I had to restart over cause I didnt know how to transfer my character and I didnt wanna bother the devs with questions when its supposed to be a blind review so now im on pc with this game and let me tell you man am i still having fun.
On mobile I only ever encountered 1 person on my adventures and they completely ignored me but on pc ive come across so many players and they actually talk to you and some will even buff you so you dont struggle or have to many issues on top of that the world is just fun so many missions and its just everyday people dealing with some insane creatures from killer beets to zombie crabs the diversity so far is insane and im not even anywhere near a major city right now my time is being spent completing every mission I find so I can level up and get stronger I just recently hit level 20 which gives me access to the market sales so I can start earning money with all the insane shit im finding.
On pc im having way more fun but I do wish I could have a bigger hot bar the game does offer an arrow to scroll between hotbars but I want all my skills on one bar the way wow streamers have it set up, I also joined a guild the person who recruited me was super friendly and honestly you dont see that anymore in games and for me being a game reviewer its hard to just have a game I can enjoy and even though this one is being reviewed ill keep playing it so I can progress.
The game also has a bunch of things you can interact with the map lets you scroll around in real time and see whats going on and there’s so many items you can find as you slay newer monsters I know im probably lacking since I keep all my stats close together.
The game does have cosmetics and battle passes you can buy with real money but so far I havent seen anything that would push a pay to win formula but if I do find one ill update this review when I do.
Between the exploration and combat even with some missions becoming very tedious and feeling like a chore for example I do a mission kill 20 of these guys only to have the next mission be kill 80 of the same guys that becomes a chore and honestly i didnt enjoy those missions at all and im finding more of them I hope the rest of the game isnt the same cause stuff like that gets old quick.
There seems to be a lot of fun gear that helps make you stronger but some of it is locked behind an ascension system which from what my guild mates told me is hitting level 100 and resetting yourself which seems like a waste all that hard work gone just so you have to start over other then the cool gear wheres the actual reward seems a bit like a punishment but I wont fully know till I reach that destination myself.
The game also has pets but I havent been able to find any myself or at least I dont know how so that is my new mission I want a companion to play with.
The new city I found seems to have a good amount of stuff to do and some special gear you can craft I wonder if each city is like this you know new gear to try and craft, there’s also a faction system ive come across 4 factions so far i dont know if thats it but they offer some benefits and sadly only 1 of them was cool and caught my attention.
All in all Fantasy Online 2 has been a fun journey so far and with active development adding new areas and events makes you wonder is the creator getting any sleep now the game is 10 dollars on steam free on andriod apart from the micro transactions on mobile for some stuff nothing game breaking i would like to see this game grow to a point the devs are happy so if you want a nice little time kill mmorpg check this game out thank you all for stopping by take care and game on.
