Hello everyone hows it going today i wanna talk to you about Train Sim World 7 and my experience with it but first I would like to thank Dovetail Games for sending me a copy its greatly appreciated so let’s dive in.
So if you know me im a huge fan of sim games I have a decent collection of them and my all time favorites are games that let me drive Euro Truck sim 2 and American truck sim by SCS are 2 of my biggest sim games so im not scared to sink hours into them so train Sim World 7 is my first game ever in the train genre and honestly i wasnt sure what to expect you see train movies and they look so cool so I wasnt sure how that would translate and well honestly I was a bit let down.
To start the game first off the menu is confusing as hell there’s no clear distinction of this is free play or this could be story mode none of that it took me a bit of searching before finally finding the tutorial already off to a bad start simpler terminology could really help here and the menu doesnt do the game any justice.
So i launched the tutorial and I gotta say its one of the most well designed walk throughs ive had the pleasure of experiencing you see the train World is so vast that the tutorial is broken down into small chapters I think it consist of 16 might be a bit more I dont know after chapter 11 I got bored as shit and went looking for free play, but back to the tutorial it walks you through everything with precise detail and yes some of the controls could be done with simple button presses you can also move the camera to the object in question and long hold for more options for the game the tutorial also had visual indicators of hey press this to continue so it really made me wonder if they could spend hours designing such an intuitive tutorial why the fuck couldn’t they make the menu easier to understand yes I get it im not a train person so forgive me but many new players that wanna try these games cause there designed to be casual will easily get pissed at a complex menu and quit the game.
Free play was another area where to get things started was a drag as well cause once you manage to pick the route you wanna play you gotta learn about the train thats designated for that route and then after you get to finally play which I get it you want people to learn but people also just wanna jump right in sometimes. I did notice some issues after I got going on my route I only had control of stop and go and the horn I didnt have the ability to press anything else during my run so I dont know if thats by design or a bug but it was a bit annoying.
Now onto the gameplay driving a train honestly felt lack luster but then again I wasnt sure what to really expect for my first time the scenery was amazing I was driving through Florida and honestly it made me wish I was there.
Visually this game is a 10 outta 10 and im sure with more time ill enjoy the game but theres a few thing that just dont make it for me and one is the pricing of add ons and dlc some of these maps go for 40 dollars and im sorry thats just insane please explain to me why your charging so much for maybe 40 miles or track when other companies are giving entire states and countries for a fraction of your cost.
If you have a history of train games this is for you but if your more a casual looking for something fun pass this up the game gets expensive and fast thank you all for stopping by take care and game on.
